Peter Doherty is Principal of Red Sky Intelligence. Peter founded the firm to help business leaders and management teams who are embracing the energy transition and leveraging digitalization to lower the cost of asset development, operations & maintenance. He has 11+ years experience in the global energy sector having worked for large multinational energy operators and contractors, developing large-scale infrastructure globally.
In 2016, he founded Computation Hub ‒ a web development services firm that helps oil & energy clients with the digital transformation of engineering processes and operations.
Between 2009 and 2016, Peter worked at Wood ‒ a multinational energy services company with revenue of $10bn serving oil majors and contractors. He held several client facing roles and worked with Fortune Global 100 companies to develop global energy infrastructure projects with CapEx of $180bn. He held roles such as Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, Business Developer, and Technology Representative and led engineering teams on shallow water and ultra deep-water upstream developments in the Gulf of Mexico, Offshore Brazil, the North Sea, West of Africa and Western Australia.
Mr. Doherty holds a bachelor’s degree (honors) in mechanical engineering from the National University of Ireland, Galway which he was awarded in 2008. In 2020, he obtained an executive education certificate in Mergers and Acquisitions from Columbia Business School.
Peter is a chartered engineer and an active member of Engineers Ireland — a professional body for engineering professional, renowned worldwide. He holds certificates from the Scrum Alliance®️ (Scrum Master®️), Engineers Ireland (Project Management, Managing Workload, Leadership Skills, Managing from within the Team) and Institut Français du Pétrole (IFP) and Total (Oil and Gas Industry MOOC). He holds 300+ hours of continuous professional development training hours.
Previously, he was a section officer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers (France section), a member of EVOLEN, an R&D technology facilitator for oil and energy companies in France and a member of the Columbia/Penn Club of New York City.
Mr. Doherty is a published author having written a technical paper titled, “DCV Aegir Pipelay Installation Analyses and Capabilities” in collaboration with Heerema Marine Contractors at the International Conference On Ocean, Offshore, And Arctic Engineering (Omae), Nantes, France in 2013 Link: OMAE2013-10262, V04AT04A026.
Peter lives in New York City with his wife Jennifer and their dog Sétanta.
